Championship Off Road Racing Rounds 1 & 2 Race Report

Pataskala, OH (7/12/2020) – Kyle Chaney earned a pair of runner-up finishes in SXS and put together two excellent drives in his Pro4 Truck debut during the Championship Off Road season opener at ERX Motor Park. The event kicked off the Midwest short course racing season at the suburban Minneapolis facility.

Chaney was back behind the wheel of a CT Race WORX-built Can-Am Maverick X3 in the Pro Modified class. He’s driving the newest RR turbo car and it performed nearly perfect during the two-event. He finished second in both races.

“We had a few issues during the weekend, but the Can-Am was virtually flawless,” said Chaney. “We’ll take that home and get ready for the next one at Dirt City. CT Raceworx has built my cars for the last five years and the punishment this thing withstood over the weekend is a great testament how they build cars.”

Along with a larger turbo and more power that comes standard on the new Can-Am, Chaney welcomed back longtime sponsor FOX and suspension tuner G-Force. Of course, Maxxis tires are again on board this season providing him excellent grip.

“The bigger turbo makes more power and the cars just keep getting faster,” said Chaney. “With more power comes the need for the suspension to be able to work with it. So, FOX and G-Force doing my valving got my car handling really well. I ran Maxxis Ceros this weekend in SXS. It’s my go-to tire for short course. They are super durable, and we get really good traction. Plus, we can run one set for the weekend, and they perform well.”

Chaney kicked off his rookie season in the Pro4 Truck class. With limited preparation and seat time, Chaney took his driving skills to the next level, scoring a fourth and fifth in the two events.

“We’re making progress,” said Chaney. “I’m blessed to have good sponsors, a good team, and good people. We were able to finish both races with no issues. With me being a rookie driver and the difficulty of driving the Pro4 truck, I’m happy to get two finishes.”

Along with new Pro4 title sponsor PPEI, as well as Action Off Road, Chaney brought Maxxis over into his truck effort. With rules stipulating that cars must run DOT tires, Chaney was psyched to be running the Maxxis Bravos.

“We had dry conditions at ERX so the all-terrain Bravo was perfect for the track,” said Chaney. “Maxxis also has a mud terrain tire so we’ll have everything we need this season.”

Chaney will be back in action as Championship Off Road next heads to Dirt City Motorplex in Lena, WI. That race is scheduled for July 25-26.
